Kat Heggen, LMSW
FOUNDER/EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Kat is a Masters prepared Social Worker and the fearless visionary and Executive Director of The Barn. She facilitates many Equine Assisted Learning and Therapy groups as well as overseeing the day to day operations at The Barn.

Heather Camp
ASSISTANT TRAINER
Heather has been a professional hunter/jumper trainer for 22 years, specializing in equitation. It truly lights up her world to spread the love of the horse. Outside of The Barn, she spends time with her husband, her pup Thorin, and four adorable kitties. She also loves gardening, cooking, and baking.

Tracy Thompson, MA, LPC
LICENSED PROFESSIONAL COUNSELOR
Tracy is a Licensed Professional Counselor where she has been working in the mental health field for over 10 years with all ages. She is currently certified as an Equine Assisted Mental Health Therapist using the EAGALA Model.

Ann Goodfellow, LLC
Ann works with individuals, couples, and families and has over a decade of experience in child welfare, including foster care. She uses a holistic, relationship-centered approach and offers Play Therapy and Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy to support healing, self-awareness, and growth. -

Cait Melamed
PROGRAMS & OPERATIONS MANAGER
Cait spearheads event planning, community outreach, fundraising, and marketing, fueled by her passion for mental health advocacy. She has been part of The Barn since 2022. When not immersed in her role, she spends many hours with her horse, Indy. She also has a rescue lab, Zeke, an orange tabby, Diego, and a husband, Matt, who has recently embraced horse ownernship. -

Dana Pleasant
DEVELOPMENT MANAGER
Dana is an equestrian with a love for animals and helping others. She assists The Barn with the coordination and implementation of various fundraising events, ensuring its growth and sustainability. Dana finds joy in riding her horse, Enzo, and spending time with her husband, Andrew, and their two dogs, Cooper and Zoey.

STUDENT WORKER -
STUDENT WORK PROGRAMKatty is a current student at Forest Hills Central High School and has been working and volunteering at The Barn since 2020. She has been around horses practically her entire life. Katty rides her lease horse, Viña, and has dreams of becoming an equine vet in the future. If you’re looking for Katty, check The Barn first, that’s usually a safe bet!

STUDENT WORK PROGRAM
Lena, a student at Lowell High School, has been a part of The Barn since 2022, but has been riding and working with horses since she was 8. She loves spending as much time at The Barn as she can, trying to help in any way possible, and riding her lease horse Shadow. Her dream is to become an equine vet or have a career involving psychology.
